Question Tag

QUESTION TAG

Question Tag adalah bentuk pertanyaan berekor yang fungsinya untuk mempertegas suatu pernyataan. Dibawah ini akan dijelaskan tentang syarat utama dan contoh dari Question Tag.

Syarat Utama Question Tag

• Bilamana kalimat pernyataan (kalimat mula-mula) dinyatakan dalam bentuk positif, maka tag (ekor)-nya harus dalam bentuk negatif.
• Bilamana kalimat pernyataan (kalimat mula-mula) dinyatakan dalam bentuk negatif, maka tag (ekor)-nya harus dalam bentuk positif.

Untuk memudahkan cara pembuatan tag, kalimat pernyataan di sini dibagi 2, yaitu :

1.     Question Tag dengan menggunakan auxiliary

A.      Pola untuk Singular Noun :

S + Auxiliary/Modals + Adjective + O/Complement, Auxiliary not/Modals not + S

Atau

S + Auxiliary not/Modals not + Adjective + O/Complement, Auxiliary/Modals + S

 

Contoh kalimat Question Tag dengan menggunakan auxiliary :

- She is going to come here, isn't she?
- He can not go now, can be?
- You will be here with me, won't you?
- He has learned a lot in the last couple of years, hasn’t he?
- Elizabeth was diligent student, Wasn’t she?
- I am invented, aren’t i?

B. Pola untuk Plural Noun :

S + Auxiliary/Modals + Adjective + O/Complement, Auxiliary not/Modals not + S

Atau

S + Auxiliary not/Modals not + Adjective + O/Complement, Auxiliary/Modals + S

Contoh kalimat :

-          They won’t be there, will they?

-          Monkeys can’t swim. Can they?

-          We were romantic couple two years ago, weren’t we?

-          You have never been to Paris, have you?

C.      Pola jika terdapat subjek berupa This/That, These/Those, Everyone/Everybody/Someone/Somebody/None(no one)/Nobody.

S + Auxiliary/Modals + Adjective + O/Complement, Auxiliary not/Modals not + S

Atau

S + Auxiliary not/Modals not + Adjective + O/Complement, Auxiliary/Modals + S

Note :

·         Kata ganti benda untuk this/that : it.

·         Kata ganti benda untuk these/those : they.

·         Kata ganti benda untuk Everyone/Everybody/Someone/Somebody/None(no one)/Nobody : they.

Contoh kalimat :

-          There aren’t any problems, are they?

-          That’s your umbrella, isn’t it?

-          Those aren’t Tony’s books, are they?

-          Everyone can learn  how to swim, can’t they?

2.     Question Tags dengan menggunakan verb (tanpa menggunakan auxiliary)

Pola :

S + V1 + O, do/does not + S ?

S + V2 + O, did not + S ?

S + do/does/did not + V + O, do/does/did + S ?

Contoh Question Tag tanpa Auxiliary :

- She loves me, doesn't she?
- He went to school, didn't he?
- We didn't see them, did we?
- Nobody cheated on the exam, didn’t they?
- They want to come, don’t they?
